Why Study PG After MBBS Abroad?
Indian doctors who have successfully completed MBBS in India or anywhere abroad have to write the All India Medical PG Entrance Exam, which now falls under the ambit of NEET. Regardless of the percentage of students who can actually clear this test is abysmally low since many students from Government Medical colleges bag the maximum number of seats.
Government medical colleges for post-graduate in medicine have approximately 15000 seats, out of which 50% are for the reserved category. In 2016, the number of MBBS pass-outs was around 50,000, and this number was decreased from 64,000 MBBS pass-outs in 2011 and 100,000 in 2015. This simply means only 7% of the Medical PG candidates get their PG medical seats in government colleges. This percentage is then divided into 48 specializations for post-graduate courses.
