About University

Ternopil State Medical University was founded in the city of Ternopil on 12th April 1957. Just after the Second World War, this medical university was recognized as Ternopil Medical Institute and founded by the orders of the Ukrainian government.

Ivan Horbachevsky identified the university on 1st July 1992 to honor his profound contribution to the field of medicine, primarily biochemistry. This medical institute was also honored with a State Medical Academy status and named as I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical Academy in December 1997.

Moreover, this medical university was acknowledged by the State Medical University on 17th November 2004. Then, it began to identify as I.H.Ternopil State Medical University popularly.

This medical university also got the fourth level of accreditation from the Ukrainian government. It is also listed among the best medical universities in Ukraine. More than 1,500 students from around 50 different countries are enrolled in the university currently.

Student Life

The university pays special attention to its students and stays updated with any modern world changes. The university has some separate student-friendly departments and clubs like Employment of Graduates, Scientific society of students, Student Parliament, and many more. Apart from this, the university focuses on overall development.

The university houses five sports complexes, a library featuring over two thousand books and journals, a swimming pool, a recreation center, and three hostels. The university hostels are fully furnished, and healthy and hygienic food is provided to the students in a mess.

Students in the dormitories have the Campus administration, which coordinates the cooperation of student self-governance, administrative office, Vice-Rector for Science, Education, Social Affairs, tutor’s council, and group curators on the matter of facilities and improving leisure time, cultural and sports activities of students.

Their dormitories have nearly 206 rooms and a full housing capacity of 508 persons. There are around three living wings on each floor of the dorm. There are three suites, a common room, a kitchen with essential equipment, and a utility room in each wing. The suite has 2 triple occupancy rooms and 2 double-occupancy rooms with a toilet and a shower.
